The Amira 52

The Amira 52

The First Amira was built in 1972.

Originally specified to include a heli-pad and to have a top speed of 33 knots.

The heli-pad idea was dropped, but in order to achieve the desired speed, she was built without a teak deck.

There was however, a rumour that the owner's cabin was fitted with a mirror on the ceiling.

No. 1 was delivered by sea to Shoreham and then shipped to Morocco via Gibraltar.

For more technical details, see the Amira brochure which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

There was also an article by Alan Burnard in the Club's magazine, "Fairey News" in December 2010.
